    Lottery Ticket (2010) Boo-Woo, Brandon T. Jackson, Naturi Naughton, Loretta Devine, Ice Cube, Keith David, Terry Crews, Mike Epps. Kevin Carson (Bow Wow) has just won $370 million in the Mondo Millions Lottery. But the Lottery Claim Office is closed for a long holiday weekend, so before he can collect, Kevin must figure out how to keep a lid on his good fortune and survive the next three days.     Metropia (2009) Voices of Vincent Gallo, Juliette Lewis, Udo Kier, Stellan Skarsgard, Alexander Skarsgard. Animated feature set in 2024 when oil reserves are nearly depleted and Europe is connected by series of underground tunnels. One man begins to hear a voice inside his head near the tunnels; seeking a way to rid himself of the voice only leads Roger deep into a bizarre conspiracy of mind and body control.     Modern Times (1936) "Modern Times," Charlie Chaplin's last outing as the Little Tramp, puts the iconic character to work as a giddily inept factory employee who becomes smitten with a gorgeous gamine (Paulette Goddard). With its barrage of unforgettable gags and sly commentary on class struggle during the Great Depression, "Modern Times" -- though made almost a decade into the talkie era and containing moments of sound (even song!) -- is a timeless showcase of Chaplin's untouchable genius as a director of silent comedy. New, restored high-definition digital transfer. An aging cowboy realizes that the West he knew and loved will soon be no more -- and that there will be no room for him, either. Based on the Jack Schaffer novel, which was turned into a 2003 telefilm with Tom Selleck. (Paramount).

    Mrs. Miracle (2009) James Van Der Beek, Doris Roberts, Erin Karpluk, Chelah Horsdal. Hallmark Channel feature about an overwhelmed widower whose search for a housekeeper to help him with his rambunctious 6-year-old twin sons ends when Mrs. Merkle -- whom the boys call "Mrs. Miracle" -- mysteriously appears and quickly becomes an irreplaceable nanny, chef, friend ... and matchmaker. (Sony).

    The Night of the Hunter (1955) "The Night of the Hunter -- incredibly, the only film the great actor Charles Laughton ever directed -- is truly a standalone masterwork. A horror movie with qualities of a Grimm fairy tale, it stars a sublimely sinister Robert Mitchum as a traveling preacher named Harry Powell (he of the tattooed knuckles), whose nefarious motives for marrying a fragile widow, played by Shelley Winters are uncovered by her terrified young children. Graced by images of eerie beauty and a sneaky sense of humor, this ethereal, expressionistic American classic -- also featuring the contributions of actress Lillian Gish and writer James Agee -- is one of cinema's quirkiest rendering of the battle between good and evil.     Rains of Injustice (Tropico De Sangre) (2010 -- Dominican Republic) Michelle Rodriguez, Juan Fernandez, Sergio Carlo. Minerva Mirabal and her sisters, raised in a privileged, well-to-do family, dare to stand up against the brutal dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, who ruled the Dominican Republic with an iron fist 1930 to 1961.     16 Wishes (2010) Debby Ryan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau. A girl gets 16 wishes on the day of her 16th birthday -- and they all start to come true (gain the attention of her crush, get the Ford Mustang she's always dreamed of, and become the most fashionable and popular girl in school). But wish No. 9 goes wrong and the girl must spend her last wishes rectifying things. Extras: Cast interviews, "A Wish Comes True Everyday" music video. Also available on Blu-ray Disc.     Sondheim! The Birthday Concert (2010) For the master composer and lyricist's 80th birthday, scores of the musical theater's brightest stars gathered to perform more than two dozen sensational numbers from Sondheim's unsurpassed canon. Many of these enduring songs are rarely heard and several are performed by the original Broadway cast members. David Hyde Pierce hosts the event with Sondheim's longtime collaborator Paul Gemignani conducting the New York Philharmonic. Filmed live March 15-16, 2010 at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City.     31 North 62 East (2009) John Rhys-Davies, Marina Sirtis, Heather Peace, Craig Fairbrass, Mimi Ferrer, and Aurelie Bargeme. A psychological thriller about how an elite SAS unit's position is revealed by the British Prime Minister to ensure an arms deal goes ahead and to secure his re-election. Everyone in the unit is thought to be dead, until two months later when a female SAS captain is found by Italian Special Forces and returns to the U.K. to investigate matters. (MTI Home Video).
