Bookwire is a comprehensive source of information to the entire world of book publishing. Here you'll find Publishers Weekly Online, "The Boston Book Review," calendars of book events, resources for book people, on-line libraries, links to more than 150 on-line booksellers and links to more than 225 book publishers with Web, gopher or telnet sites.
They also have a nice selection of public domain free downloadable texts, from Jane Austen to Virginia Woolf.

The Book Stacks Web Bookstore is an on-line bookstore with over 300,000 titles searchable by author, title, subject, and ISBN. And you can order books right on-line.

Not a bookstore in the traditional sense, the Online BookStore is a publisher's publisher, a concept which involves developing electronic books to complement printed books, from initial concept on through to the coding and siting of files. OBS publishes books on-line and also satisfies readers' needs by offering opportunities to sample free texts. This is paperless publishing at its most interesting.

Bookport(tm): Access to Books is a Web site dedicated to offering readers Internet access to books. Bookport is sponsored by Fortuity Consulting, a consultant to publishers with an interest in using the Internet as a market channel. Bookport provides immediate access to on-line editions of books; on-line ordering of bound books; and information about books in the form of catalog descriptions, excerpts, and publishers' marketing materials.
Their Internet Book Fair is a linkable index to some 150 publishers with catalogs on the Net, from trade through special interest through university presses.

Project Gutenberg ("Fine Literature Digitally Re-Published" ©) is the granddaddy of sites offering free, "Public Domain Etexts" of literature and reference books. Before the end of the year 2001 they are scheduled to complete their 10,000 book Project Gutenberg Electronic Public Library. In the meantime, here's the premier source for hundreds of on-line E-texts.

Borders Books & Music is a hip chain of 44 book stores that caters to book lovers, not pop-lit bargain hunters (though their prices rival those of other chains devoted to best-sellers). The stores offer reading areas, multimedia sections and coffee bars. Their Web site contains lists of award-winning books, music, and videos, as well as store newsletters, reviews of various sorts, topical book lists and links to book-related sites and resources.
